MMXXVI. Nunc ipsum….
Dear Readership
Saturnalia has long concluded, and we are already well into the throws of a new year, ordered within the bizarre, solar dominant Gregorian wheel that dictates the cycle we apparently schedule our ‘lives’ within. And already, it looks hopelessly bleak.
Most importantly, sincerest gratitude to anyone who interacted with our work during 2025. And to everyone we worked with.
On an individual level, 2025 was hideous, but Mousai was there and means everything to us. We take that with us into 2026, with an ever deepening commitment to our work toward contributing to collective liberation, the subversion of and liberation from the dogmatic trauma of the world, and the proud platforming of marginalised and othered voices.
The crown of 2025 for us was the publication of, and reading event for, Intersection I; si vis pacem, para bellum. It has changed and moved me in cycles of gratitude that I can’t express. And I am immensely proud of everyone involved.
Truly, we are grateful for every interaction. Mousai is a not for profit movement, and is run and funded by two very different, poor, and near resourceless women, so any and all interaction with our work is received with deep and genuine gratitude.
Together, we are ALL aiming toward contributing to the aim that has to be collective liberation.
By design and, by necessity, Mousai and its work is as much yours as it is ours. It is collectively OURS. For only collectively, can we seek meaningful resistance and liberation. For all, not some.
Our aims for 2026 are:
- The publication of Mousai III
- Intersecting publications, focusing on continuing our work with platforming marginalised voices
- A commitment to new collaborations and ways of working for material impact
I think, and hope, the strength of Mousai is in our refusal to segregate anyone’s work into particular spaces, so that everywhere else doesn’t have to. As a transsexual, and an occultist, this feels particularly pertinent. Mousai’s strength is in it’s commitment to centring trans+ voices, as well as all marginalised peoples, as well as those working (and intersecting) through an occulted and esoteric experience of the ‘world’. The strength in this is that by not being singular in our publications, we don’t allow everywhere else to assume that they don’t need to do the work, just because others are. We aim to contribute to the demand that all marginalised peoples are platformed in the histories, presents, and futures that we always have been, are, and always will be existing within. Not to appease it.
