She Lies Below, Part I
The following is a quickly written draft of a two part poem, written by someone very close to Mousai. Thalia, a Trans woman, requested this rough, raw, and abstract word be given some form of publication with immediacy, given the increased vitriol, hatred, and erasure that Trans people – particularly Trans woman – are being faced with.
Mousai stands with all Trans people, and all minorities, and will use all and any subversions to challenge a world that denies them.
This isn’t ideology. This is duty.
She Lies Below, Part I
Thalia
I spoke with violence then.
Now, the same spiral paints loss
like dripping blood from the leaves of Babylon.
Folded, forgotten, and contorted
She lies below.
Time and tyranny stand languidly above
akin to still birth, no bliss of nought.
A knowledge not told to you nor I.
I would touch Her
if only I knew how.
She lies below
where only the Devil dwells.
Whispers, fire, silence
from tongues wiser than I.
Her ‘he’, somehow still choosing to deny.
The same whisper that holds
takes all away again
and again.
The same June, the same Gemini
paint the pain of Her and I.
The same Mercurial Sun
gives breathe to take it away again
and again.
The shotgun fills me.
An irony of slow suicide
being that She seeks breathe.
I whisper the last goodbye.
If you won’t have, throw me a line.
The noose I make will genesis more of me
who overthrow you shall.
Watch me burn
I die inside of Her.
She whom lies below, above, within, and without.
