si vis pacem, para belum – Launch and Reading Event  

On Saturday 13th September 2025, Mousai’s first intersecting issue will be published. Under the title of ‘si vis pacem, para bellum’, the issue centres trans+ voices responding to, and resisting erasure, across a very varied palette of art and writing. 

The publication will be marked by a launch event at The Candle Orchard in Bexhill-on-Sea, near Brighton. A number of those published in the issue will be present to read and perform some of their work.
The event will start from 19:30, is free to attend, and will have drinks and refreshments available of both an alcoholic and non-alcoholic variety.

The social, political, and media rhetoric towards trans+ people is full of vitriol, hatred, deliberate misunderstanding, dehumanisation, and erasure. This is our stand against a world that denies us, to demonstrate that we have always been here, always will, and that we are not so easily silenced.

It goes without saying that this environment will be a safe, queer space. Anything that goes against that, or threatens any individual or group of people, will be dealt with heavily and immediately.
